Whether you have a loved one or close friend who is suffering from breast cancer or simply wish to show your support for those struggling with the disease, there are several ways you can help make a difference.
Make a donation directly or through a third party By making a tax-deductible donation to organizations like Susan G. Komen for the Cure and the American Cancer Society, your monetary support will go to conducting cancer research, education, early detection and treatment programs. You can also show support through buying products whose proceeds are donated to a cause-oriented program. Before participating, a few questions must be asked: Is the company legitimate and committed? Read the fine print on product packaging, advertisement copy and point of purchase displays. Visit the sponsoršs corporate Web site to ensure the company is credible and legitimately involved in the cause. Who does the program benefit? It should benefit a well-managed and reputable non-profit or fund. Organizations should be able to clearly explain how they structure programs and how the proceeds are used. How is the program organized? Be sure the company can state how the money is raised and what specific percentage or amount from your purchase is going towards the charity. Is there a minimum contribution guarantee? Is there a maximum contribution the company will not exceed? How will my money be used by the charity? Will the proceeds generated go to research, community programs, education or other worthy causes? Does the program mean something to you? Does the charity support a cause that you believe in or have somehow been touched by? Based on its donation structure, does the program make sense? Make sure that the cause you're contributing to involves something youšre passionate about. |
