Alkylates and Acids

Oronite produces sulfonic acids from a variety of alkylates. The sulfonic acid's high fraction of actives (HSO3) makes it an excellent base for the manufacture of sulfonates used in the lubricant industry.

Alkyl Phenol

Alkyl Phenols are intermediates used in the manufacture of phenates for lubricant additives, ethoxylated spray adjuvants and de-inking.

  • OLOA® 200

Polybutene (Polyisobutylene)

Oronite produces superior polybutene products of high vinylidene content for greater reactivity. Using Oronite polybutene can result in increased conversion rates for downstream products. Savings can result from lower treatment rates with fewer by-products and increased product quality.

We offer the following polybutene product, which meets US FDA Title 21, CFR 177.1430 for incidental food contact:

  • OLOA 16500 1000 Molecular Weight

PIBSA (Polyisobutenyl Succinic Anhydride)

PIBSA, an intermediate product used to produce chlorine-free dispersants, is manufactured using highly reactive polybutene with a thermal process.

  • OLOA 15500 (based on 1000 Molecular Weight Polyisobutylene)

Propylene Tetramer & Pentamer

We offer top quality propylene tetramer (C12) and propylene pentamer (C15), which are used in manufacturing products such as dodecylphenol, tridecyl alcohol, branched alkylbenzene sulfonic acid, dodecyl mercaptans, and dodecyl succinic anhydride. These products are used in manufacturing plasticizers, surfactants, lube oil additives, gasoline additives, polystyrene, emulsifiers for herbicides, and corrosion inhibitors in alkyd and epoxy coatings.
