The Gulf of America is home to some of the world’s lowest carbon intensity oil and gas. The Chevron-operated Big Foot offshore platform lies 225 miles (362 km) south of New Orleans, Louisiana.

The platform supports an onboard, full-capacity drilling rig for development well drilling and future interventions. Production wells are equipped with electric submersible pumps at a depth of 16,000 feet (4,876 m).

In 2024, Chevron produced 20,000 barrels per day of net crude oil and 21,000 barrels per day of net oil-equivalent. Net natural gas production in 2024 was 4 million cubic feet per day.

Oil and gas produced in the Gulf of America are among the lowest carbon-intensity barrels in the world. Through our portfolio of operated and non-operated facilities, Chevron is working to produce 300,000 barrels of oil-equivalent per day in the Gulf of America by 2026.
The Big Foot facility is operated by Chevron U.S.A. Inc., in a joint venture with Equinor Gulf of Mexico LLC and Marubeni Oil & Gas (USA) LLC.
