This website, Chevron.com, is owned and operated in the United States. In this Global Cookie Privacy Statement (“Statement”), “we” means Chevron Corporation and its wholly owned subsidiaries, and “you” means the person interacting with us online, such as when you visit or use Chevron.com (the “Site”) or our United States-based Chevron, Texaco or ExtraMile Rewards consumer mobile applications (the “Apps,” collectively with the Site and other online interactions, the “Services”). “Cookie(s)” means cookies and similar tracking technologies described in further detail below.
This Statement describes the personal data practices of Chevron Corporation, its wholly owned subsidiaries (collectively, “Chevron,” “we,” or “us”) and the ExtraMile App in connection with personal data collected through the use of Cookies. The purpose of this Statement is to explain our online tracking practices more fully and how you may control them. Your browser or device
- Certain information is collected by most browsers or automatically through your device, such as your Media Access Control (MAC) address, computer type (Windows or Mac), screen resolution, operating system name and version, device manufacturer and model, language, Internet browser type and version, and the name and version of the Services (such as the Apps) you are using. We use this information to ensure that our online services function properly.
Your use of the Apps
- When you download and use the Apps, we and our service providers may track and collect Apps usage data, such as the date and time the Apps on your device accesses our servers and what information and files have been downloaded to the Apps based on your device number.
Site Cookies
- Cookies are pieces of information stored directly on the computer that you are using. Cookies allow us to collect information such as browser type, time spent on our online services, pages visited, language preferences, and other traffic data. We and our service providers use the information for security purposes, to facilitate navigation, to display information more effectively, and to personalize your experience. We also gather statistical information about use of the Services in order to continually improve their design and functionality, understand how they are used, and assist us with resolving questions regarding them. Cookies further allow us to select which of our advertisements or offers are most likely to appeal to you and display them while you are on the Services. Pixel tags and other similar technologies
- Pixel tags. Pixel tags (also known as web beacons and clear GIFs) may be used to, among other things, track the actions of users of our online services (including email recipients), measure the success of our marketing campaigns, and compile statistics about usage of the Services and response rates.
- Analytics. We use Google Analytics, which uses cookies and similar technologies to collect and analyze information about use of the Services and report on activities and trends. This service may also collect information regarding the use of other websites, apps and online resources. App Cookies (SDK tracking technologies)
- Mobile applications, including the Apps, use third-party software development kits (“SDKs”) to build out application functionalities provided by third parties. SDKs are packages of tools that helps the applications function in certain ways. SDKs may include application programming interfaces (“APIs”), which is a set of rules that allows applications to communicate with one another. These SDKs may embed tracking codes in the applications that automatically collect user personal data and send it to the third-party kit developers.
- If you do not want certain types of personal data to be collected through the use of SDKs, most mobile device settings and operating systems settings allow you to automatically decline certain types of tracking.
- You may adjust certain types of SDK tracking through the Apps. You also may not receive advertising or other expected offers from the Apps that may be relevant to your interests and needs.
Invisible reCAPTCHA
- We use Google’s invisible reCAPTCHA application on our Services in order to protect against spam and other automated abuse. The reCAPTCHA tool may make use of cookies, as well as other information like IP address, date, time, language, screen size and resolution, and mouse movements, while on the page. The use of the reCAPTCHA service and the treatment of any information collected through the service are subject to Google’s applicable privacy policy, available at https://policies.google.com/privacy, and Google’s terms of service, available at https://policies.google.com/terms?hl=en.
IP address
- Your IP Address is a number that is automatically assigned to your computer by your Internet Service Provider. An IP Address may be identified and logged automatically in our server log files whenever a user accesses the Services, along with the time of the visit and the pages visited. We use IP Addresses for purposes such as calculating usage levels, diagnosing server problems, and administering the Services. We may also derive your approximate location from your IP Address.
Mobile device ID
- Your mobile device identification number is automatically assigned to your device by the device manufacturer. This number may be logged automatically whenever a user accesses the Apps. We use mobile device IDs for purposes such as calculating usage levels, diagnosing App problems, and administering the Services. We may also derive your approximate location from your mobile device ID.
Physical location
- We may collect the physical location of your device by, for example, using satellite, cell phone tower or WiFi signals. We may use your device’s physical location to provide you with personalized location-based services and content. We may also share your device’s physical location, combined with information about what advertisements you viewed and other information we collect, with our marketing partners to enable them to provide you with more personalized content and to study the effectiveness of advertising campaigns. In some instances, you may be permitted to allow or deny such uses and/or sharing of your device’s location, but if you do, we and/or our marketing partners may not be able to provide you with the applicable personalized services and content.

We may use and disclose data collected automatically for any purpose, except where we are required to do otherwise under applicable law. If we are required to treat such data as personal data under applicable law, we may use and disclose it for the purposes for which we use and disclose personal data as detailed in our Global Privacy Statement.
